A Trip to the Zoo

We had a really fun afternoon during the summer going to the Binder Park Zoo that's located right here in Battle Creek! The park was HUGE so by the time we left all 3 of us were ready for a nap. Seriously this place was so big that there was a tram that takes you to the safari area of the zoo, where we were able to feed the giraffes which was definitely the highlight of the whole trip. So fun! Cory and I had a great time just watching Owen see all the animals and make the animal noises when he pointed them out.

No he didn't fall down. He was just really sad that his leg was so dirty after crawling through a tunnel. I just had to snap a pic of that face! hehe

Bombers Baseball Champions 2011 Season

As you all know, Cory works for a the Battle Creek Bombers Collegiate Baseball team out here. He worked his little bum off all season and it sure paid off. This summer they had their most successful season in attendance, profits, and wins! This year was the first time the Bombers ever made it to the Championships and they ended up winning the whole thing! It was very exciting and fun to be apart of. We look forward to this next years season and hope for the same success. Let's Go Bombers!!!

Happy "GOLDEN" Anniversary

So I don't know if you celebrate golden anniversaries like you do golden birthdays, but this year it was our 3rd Anniversary on May 3rd so I like to think of it as our "golden" one. I did try hinting a few times to Cory that on your golden anniversary you usually give something gold to your wife. But I guess he just didn't get the message clear enough. Darn. :) We actually did our celebrating a few days early so we could go on a nice, long date just the two of us!! Honestly we were just lovin' being on a date! haha It had been a while since our last one and it was seriously much needed time away and to ourselves. We had dinner at this fun piano bar and restaurant where we ate and enjoyed being entertained by the dueling piano players. It was way fun and they even played Piano Man when we were leaving! My Fav!! Then we caught a movie after and had fun holding hands and cuddling during that. Totally brought me back to our first dating years in high school and how exciting and giddy it felt then and still feels today, but with so much more love and happiness that I have and feel for my man. I could not be happier. Not one bit. I am lucky in love with my BFF!! Happy 3 years Cory Jacob!!

Hoppy Easter

We had an all around great Easter this year filled with egg hunts, treat filled baskets, fabulous food, and good company. BUT the greatest blessing I had on Easter definitely was being able to teach sharing time in Primary. I love these kids. I learn so much from them and their sweet little examples. I am so grateful that I get to serve in Primary at this time in my life. I see each week why our Savior has taught us to "become as little children." It was such a wonderful time at church and I loved talking to all the children about my love for our Savior and the real reason we celebrate Easter. I am so grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, and all that He has done for us all. He lives! "I know that my Redeemer lives!"

Here is Owen enjoying all the new goodies he got in his Easter basket. He started to really get into Elmo recently so we thought an Elmo doll would be fun along with a new dvd and bubble gun! He was too cute to watch while looking and finding all the eggs around the house. Of course he called the eggs "balls." haha He is such a sporty little boy. I wonder where he gets that from? hmmm.

Corned Beef and Cabbage

This year for St. Patty's day I wanted to have some fun and really celebrate this holiday to the fullest...well maybe not to the fullest. haha But I really wanted to make a traditional St. Patrick's Day dish. So for the first time I made corned beef and cabbage for our dinner and we thought I thought it turned out pretty good. We also started the day off with a bowl full of Lucky Charms and then snacked on some golden wrapped chocolates in my pot of gold candy dish. haha I know. I was a little crazy, but we had fun! Also no doubt I sneaked in a shamrock shake from McyD's during the day as well!! Hope you all had a fun day wearing green and talking with an Irish accent...you know I did. :)

We got CABIN FEVER

So as I looked through my past months of pictures, I noticed that a lot of them were just of Owen playing in our apartment. We were definitely feeling the cabin fever from the cold winter months, especially around the month of March. But thanks to Elmo and tons of balls we made it through to the SPRING!! After this winter I told Cory that when we finally settle down I would prefer not to live in a place where for 5 months out of the year we have to spend the majority of our time indoors. I guess we'll see how that plays out in the years to come. But here's to being hopeful. :) So here are some fun little pics of my little buddy just playing and learning how to climb up on furniture.

Meeting Mr. CAM

I know, I know...another 3 months of not blogging. Shame on me! So, I'll still briefly recap some of what happened over the past couple months.

At the end of February, Owen and I made a fun little trip down to Texas to visit the Larsens' and meet my new little nephew, Cameron Spencer. I was so happy when I found a great deal on a plane ticket and my sweet hubby let me go and see my sister!! Owen and Avarie had a blast playing together and getting lots of attention from Grandma Mary and Papa Dunn, who were also there visiting. I just couldn't get enough of that sweet little guy. Holding him definitely triggered some baby hunger! hehe I could have sat and held that him all day long. He is a sweet, easy going, happy little soul. And the perfect word to describe his body type is "chusky." Just like a little bulldog. Owen loves to sign "baby" and every time he was around Cam that's what he would do. He would try and get really close to him and give him loves. It was really sweet, but made me a little nervous because he has yet learned what it means to be "soft." Oh how I wish I could have been there longer and enjoyed in the fabulous weather, yummy food at the Larsen home, and most of all being with family. :) I was so grateful that I could be there for Cameron's baby blessing. It was a wonderful blessing and very happy day to celebrate this new little boy in our family. I love being an aunt and love all my nieces and nephews so much. With each new one that comes into our family my love just grows and grows.

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day this year, filled with lots of candy, hugs, kisses, and LOVE. Honestly, it was such a happy day, even if I was dealing with an awful cold! I woke-up to roses, chocolates, and a card from my valentine. For lunch Owen and I surprised daddy at work with a balloon and treats. Then for dinner we went to one of our favorite places, Ruby Tuesdays, and later had yummy brownie sundaes for dessert at home. I made Owen a shirt to wear this year for V-day and he looked so adorable in it. Such a little ladies man. I am so grateful for these two wonderful, sweet boys in my life. They make me feel so loved and special EVERY day! Happy Valentine's Day to all my family and friends.

So I know I am completely bias because I am Owen's mother, but I just think he is the most handsome little guy. :) I am definitely blessed to spend my whole day with my favorite little man. I love it. Today was just one of those days where not much was going on. So I decided to make Owen's hair all cute, and had to take a few pictures of the little handsome devil. I just can't get enough of him, and his sweet smile.

My mom hadn't seen our new place here in Michigan since we moved here in November, because of traveling and the holidays, so in January she decided to come over for a few days. It was wonderful. I LOVE that we are only a short drive away from home, making it easy to do little visits here and there. We didn't do too much while my mom was here, but enjoyed going to story-time, the mall and the very first night my mom watched Owen for us while Cory and I got to sneak away for a little movie date. Thanks mom! The most exciting thing that happened while Grandma Mary was here was the Owen started WALKING! It was seriously out of no were. He hadn't been showing any interest in walking before my mom came, but by the time she left crawling was out of the picture and life was all on two feet from then on. I think because he had been a furniture cruiser for so long and blessed with large feet(hehe), that once he finally got the confidence to "let-go" he had no problem with balance. He really hasn't even had any big bumps or falls yet, except for one stairs incident at the mall that was more traumatic for me than him. Also, right around this same time my mom came to visit we decided to say goodbye to "Mr. Binks." We had already started the battle of trying to keep it in the crib only after naps, but that was not working out to well. He would just sob into my shoulder whenever I took it away. So we thought why not just cut it out cold turkey and be down with the binky all together. It was definitely hard the first week, especially around nap times, but after that he was doing great and its been over a month now! I felt bad taking it away from him, because he has always had a little attachment to it since he was born. I felt like I was just being mean to him by taking away something he loved. However, we just really thought now was the best time to do it, and are happy we did. I have decided that this age is a really hard age for many reasons, but also a very very fun age too. Wow, January was quite the month for Owen with a lot of change and growing up. Thanks for the fun visit mom! I think Owen started walking when you were here just cause he wanted to show-off for his Grandma Mary. :)

First Hair-Cut

Back in January Cory and I decided it was time for Owen to get a hair-cut. His hair wasn't too long, but it was just looking straggly. So first we had him watch me cut Cory's hair, thinking that maybe if he watched dada get a hair-cut he would be ok with it. And he was! He did great. I used the clippers, no scissors(those scare me too much). He just sat there the whole time on Cory's lap and would duck his head a little sometimes when the clippers touched his head. I was so happy he did so well and was such a big boy! :) I was a little said to see some of his hair go and seeing my little boy growing up. But we were so glad that we did it and think he looked so handsome with his new hair-cut. Here are his before and after pics.

New Years Eve 2010

We had a really fun time celebrating New Years this year at the Lincoln Park Zoo. The zoo was covered in Christmas lights and they passed out hats and 3D glasses to everyone as you walked in because when you looked at some of the light displays you could see Rudolph in them. So cool! And I was pleasantly surprised that most of the animals were out in their exhibits, so we just walked around and went in and out of all the different animal houses. Owen loved it and got to ride the carousel at the end with his Papa Dunn! What actually made the night even more perfect was that we got to enjoy 60 degree weather in the middle of the Chicago winter! It was crazy, but oh so wonderful! Then after a great time at the zoo-lights we went to Five Guys to grab some yummy grub before heading home to get the little guy in bed. I seriously enjoyed every minute of this night and it will always be a fun memory I will look back on as we celebrated New Years as a family of 3, with Grandma Mary and Papa Dunn. :)

Happy Birthday To Our Sweet Little OWEN

On December 29 Owen turned the BIG 1! And what a fun and special day that was. I always had mixed feelings about having a baby so close to Christmas, but sometimes that just happens, and I was actually really happy with how much it felt like Owen's special day and not just another day looped in with all the holidays. We started off the day with a laid back morning so we could party hard later in the day. For lunch my parents treated us to some yummy Red Robin (ya I like to start em' young), and we even had the waiters sing to Owen! It was so cute. Then after lunch was met up with Cory's dad, sister, and three of Owen's cousins at Monkey Joe's. This is a super fun play place that has huge blow-up slides and bouncy things that Owen has in heaven with. He LOVED the slides, and we even let him go down by himself! He would just giggle all the way down. Owen was probably the youngest one crawling around and going down the slides, which made it a little difficult, but we all still had a lot of fun! Owen's oldest cousin Colby (10) really loves taking care of and playing with Owen. He helped me out the whole time we were there and would take Owen up and down the slides over and over again. It was so sweet. Owen is truly blessed with AWESOME cousins on both sides!! Then it was back home for a quick afternoon nap before the party started. For his party we had all of our family in the area come over to my parents house, where we ate some yummy food, opened lots of fun presents, and watched Owen dig in to his very own cake, which is pretty much the main event at all 1 year old birthday parties. :) We really felt so blessed and lucky to have so many family members their to help celebrate Owen's birthday. It wasn't until we got back home to Battle Creek, after New Years, when everything started to sink in and I got emotional thinking about how fast the time has gone from when Owen was born. How quickly that first year goes by, and how much our little one had changed. Just one of many of my sappy mom moments.

Christmas 2010

We had such a wonderful Christmas spent with family back in Crystal Lake. This year we were at Cory's parents house, but were able to see my parents on both Christmas Eve and Day for a little bit. Thats the joy of having both our parents live only 10 minutes apart, we get to see them both every time we go home for a visit! This was actually Owen's very first Christmas, which you wouldn't think by looking at him. But thats what happens I guess when you have a baby 4 days after Christmas. :) Cory and I had a lot of fun being "Santa" for the first time as parents, and watching Owen having fun with all of his new stuff. At Cory's parents house they have some fun traditions they do every year for Christmas such as playing out the nativity (and its been video taped for YEARS), nice big Christmas Eve feast, walking down the stairs Christmas morning from youngest to oldest, Monkey Bread breakfast after seeing what Santa brought, and then FINALLY after breakfast we get to open our presents!! This was probably the first Christmas that I didn't open my presents right after waking up! Oh and they also have you open your presents one by one until they are all gone. At my house growing up it was not so organized and pretty much all the presents were open after ten minutes of being awake! hahaha It was a lot of fun though and I enjoyed every minute of it, even if I had to wait til 11 to open my presents. :) This was actually our first Christmas as a married couple spent with the Evans, and it was so fun to be with them and enjoy the Christmas Spirit together. This Christmas we got to speak to our favorite missionaries too! Cory and I both have younger brothers on missions and LOVED talking and listening to them on the phone. Probably the BEST Christmas present. :) Well, I hope you all have wonderful and special Christmas' spent with the ones you love most.

SANTA

Owen was born four days after Christmas last year (2009) so it was weird to think that this was really his FIRST Christmas. So that meant meeting Santa for the first time too! It was kind of a last minute thing we decided to do one night, and when I saw all the other kids in line I thought "oh I probably could have dressed Owen up a little...oh well!" He did great and was more interested in the big chair than the cute old man with the white beard. However. this Santa wasn't very jolly. Actually he was silent the whole time Owen sat on his lap. I had a good laugh after thinking about the whole thing. Crazy parents trying to get their kid to smile, silent Santa awkwardly sitting there, and one oblivious little boy who had no clue what was going on. haha I am glad he did so well for his first time though. Ho Ho Ho!

So by the look of Owen's appearance I hope you know that this is in the morning. Missing sock, crazy hair...he's just a wild sleeper I guess! Well that's not really the reason for my post, though that picture is pretty darn cute. I want you all to notice the next to pictures of Owen's bum. Would you like a snack? hahaha I hadn't really noticed how messy his high chair had gotten until after I got him out of his chair and watched a bum full of cheerios crawl away! Poor guy. Who knows how long he's been eating in such uncomfortable conditions. Needless to say, I cleaned his chair later that day! :) Is he not the cutest or what??

Happy Happy Birthday CORY Dear

This past Wednesday, on Dec. 15th we celebrated Cory's 25th birthday. Now that we're getting older and Cory's working full time, celebrating his birthday had to wait til after he got off work. This was the first time since we've been married that we weren't able to spend the whole day together. So that kind of stunk, but I tried to make him fell special even though we were apart for most of the day. I wanted him to at least go to work with something yummy to share so we stopped off at the near by donut shop in town and picked up some for him to share. Well, Cory only works with two other people right now and one of them didn't work that day so between Cory and his boss they ate all the donuts! hehe Hey I say on your birthday you can do whatever you like! It's your day to ENJOY! When the work day was finally over, me and Owen picked him up and we went to one of our favorite places for ribs, Ruby Tuesdays. I don't know if I haven't been cooking very good dinners lately or what but man I thought that was the best meal I had ever had! I kept talking about it even days after. What can I say, I love good food! So then after dinner we came home had cake, ice cream, and opened presents. Owen wasn't the biggest fan of the party hats, but we were still able to get a couple good shots before he destroyed his. Lucky Owen got to practice for his own birthday thats at the end of the month by digging into his own slice of cake. And I pretty sure he'll do the same with his own birthday cake.

Cory I hope you had a fun birthday, even though you had to work. Owen and I are so very lucky to have you in our lives and we just love you so so much! Here's to the next 25 years and then some!!!

I have put off blogging long enough...I was just feeling overwhelmed with all the posts I've wanted to do with all the stuff we've done since my last post. But I decided that doing a brief update and then starting fresh from here would be best.
So here's what's happening with the Evans' now...

WHO: Cory Lindsay and Owen

WHAT: Just Living the Dream as an eternal family of 3

WHERE: Battle Creek, MI

WHEN: Since the middle of November

WHY: Cory got a job working for the Battle Creek Bombers, a collegiate baseball league. We felt like this was the right move to make at this time for us and it will be great experience for Cory to have for grad school later on. So we plan on being here for a little while (longer than any other place we've lived our married lives) but who knows! hehe I am hoping we are here until we go to grad school, I am done moving!!! Even though I have gotten pretty used to the feeling and craziness of the whole moving process, it still hasn't gotten any easier. Its always a little rough at first...the new home, new ward, new area, and no friends...but I know it takes a while til you really start feeling comfortable and start making some good friends. This move is really a whole new experience for us because we've never moved to a place where we knew absolutely no one, and are completely on our own. I am just so grateful to not be too far from our hometown, and for modern technology that makes it so easy and convenient to communicate with family and friends. We are very happy and know we are where we should be.

THE Science Center

So all of your Washingtonians know exactly what I'm talking about when you hear The Seattle Science Center! I mean who's lived in WA and hasn't gone there?! haha Well this place was visited many times by the Dunn kids while growing up, and I think every time we had friends or family come and visit we took them here. So of course I had to go and take Owen there to enjoy the wonderful world of SCIENCE! Christanie's parents were in town and little while back and we thought that would be a fun activity to do for the day, especially for Brady. Which I think he had the best time out of all of us for sure! It brought back so many memories being in that place. Seriously, nothing had changed! It was too funny. It's so weird going back to the places you grew up going to as a kid and revisiting them as an adult is just a whole new experience. As kids you are just in your own little world oblivious to so much going on around you! But I loved it and had fun being back in that great place that provided our family with countless hours of pure enjoyment! Thanks mom for being so awesome! :)

Twins!?! (For the day at least!)

I don't think I have informed my blogging buddies that we are currently in the state of Washington for the summer! We are living in Renton and have been here since May. Cory is selling door to door home security systems again for Elite Security and making momma proud hahaha! I was pretty excited to here that we where going to be in the Seattle area for the summer cause I grew up here and my sister Katie's family lives only 4 hours away in Spokane! So when we first got here in the beginning of May I got to watch my little niece Preslie for 2 days while my sister was out of town. It was so much fun, a little crazy, but fun! Owen and Pres got along great until Owen started getting a little jealous that someone else was taking up his momma's time! I pretty much didn't leave the apartment for those 2 days, nervous that there would have been a major catastrophe if we went out! I loved it though and got a taste of what life could be like if we had twins...Here are some cute pictures of Owen and Preslie.

Lucky I am in love with my BEST FRIEND!! Cory, I love you more than anything in the whole world! You make me so happy. I love your sweetness, funniness, love for life, tender heart, and how you make me feel like I am the prettiest girl in the whole world. You are such an amazing husband and dad! You work so hard for our family and I appreciate it more than you know! As of recently I have been hearing this song by Keith Urban a ton and every time I listen to it I think of us! Cheesy I know, but I just love it.

My First Mother's Day

I do realize that Mother's Day is back in May, but I am still playing catch-up with my blog posts, sorry!! I had a wonderful first Mother's Day and was treated like a queen by my sweetie, Cory. He got me lots of fun gifts which included a deluxe spa pedicure and a massage! He knows what girls really want; to be pampered!!! Thanks babe! And Owen gave me a little book titled Mommy Loves Me! So cute! Here are just a few fun pictures of my little man dressed up for church on Mother's Day.

There are no words to truly describe the joy and love I feel being a mother to Owen. He has changed my life so much and it just keeps getting better each day. I love you with all my heart my sweet Owen and am so blessed to by called your momma!

4 Months...

I know that this is 2 months late, but I am just trying to update you all on Owen and his milestones. I wish I had been better about writing things down each time Owen did something exciting and new because now it's so much harder to just try and remember things off the top of my head, especially with a memory like mine.

Stats from his 4 month appointment...
Height--25 1/2inches (above average)
Weight--14.3 (average)

After his check-up I knew I was ready to start him on some rice cereal because I wanted to get him sleeping through the whole night and I thought maybe filling him up on more than just milk would do the trick. He actually did really well his first time and quickly became a pro at eating from a spoon!

Also, by this time Owen had been rolling over a little...meaning that he only would go from his tummy to his back and it didn't happen that often. I would always joke that he is just plain lazy and his mom would come get him if he got to upset with being on his tummy too long. Which sadly was very true! So up until about 2 weeks ago Owen really wasn't showing much interest in being mobile at all, but now he is rolling and scooting in circles all the time! Sometimes I miss not having to worry about putting him on the bed while I run to get something in fear that he may fall off, but I am glad that he has finally wanted to be a little more of a rollie-pollie these days :)

Wishing the title was pertaining to me, however Cory is the one who graduated from SVU this past May!!! Hooray, what an accomplishment! The week leading up to the big ceremony on May 1st was a BUSY one. Lots of packing and cleaning to get ready for the cross country move to Seattle for the summer. As well as crazy me wanting to throw Cory a last minute Grad Party just two days before we left! But we were so glad we did so we could spend a little more time chatting and playing games with some of our wonderful friends we'd made while living in Virginia. Moves are always a bittersweet thing, and we sure miss all our BV friends!! But we both agreed that it was time for us to move on to the next phase of our lives, whatever that may be...hehe. We have truly loved our time spent in Virginia and all the experiences Cory had while going to SVU. Virginia will always have a little special place in my heart because that's where we made some of the sweetest memories so far for our little family. Some days I just miss that small town feeling :) Here are a few pictures of Cory graduating and us in front of our house we lived in this past school year.

A BIG Shout-out To Cory

Its been about three weeks now and most of you probably already now this, but Cory finished off his last year of college basketball by going to the NAIA National Tournament and got 2nd!! Also at the tournament he was awarded 3 different awards... Academic All American (for the 4th time), Honorable Mention All American, and All Tournament Team! Way to go Cory! It has been so much fun being able to watch and support him these past 2 years doing what he loves so much. I will definitely miss it. Here are a few shots of him at the tournament. TIME FOR AN UPDATE!!!

So I decided that my valentines gift to all my family and friends would be to update my blog!!! I know its been forever since my last post and of course you are all dying to hear about and see the new addition to our family!! So I guess I should start from the beginning...

I will spare you all the not so pleasent details of the whole labor and delivery story and just give a short recap of the big event. It all started early in the morning of the 28th. I woke up at around 4:00AM to contractions about 5-6 minutes apart, but not too painful. After an hour of timing the contractions that were getting closer and more painful, I decided to wake up Cory to ask him what we should do and in just a few minutes I heard my mom get up to the bathroom probably because she heard us talking and moving around. As soon as I told her I was having contractions she immediately said we need to go to the hospital right now! (hehe she was an anxious grandmother) So then I called my midwife and off we went around 6:00AM. After we got all situated at the hospital my midwife checked to see were I was at and sadly I was only dialated to a 1. Then from 7 in the morning to 2 that afternoon I didn't have any progress so they sent me home on some pain meds that would help take the edge off the contractions that were consistantly 3 minutes apart. Well by this point I was very disappointed and exhausted. I did not want to go home (which is 45 minutes from the hospital) and try to sleep when I could still feel every contraction and they kept getting worse. Once we got back home I tried to get some sleep but after an hour and a half of suffering through those stinkin contractions I said we are going back to the hospital now! The ride back was the longest ride of my life! So miserable! Cory told me later that he was going around 90mph the whole way when the speed limit is only 65! hehe I guess he didn't want me having this baby in the car. So once I got re-admitted around 5:30PM and the nurse checked me I was now dialated to a 5. They asked if I wanted the epidural now and I said YES PLEASE! And what a relief that was once it kicked in. When they checked my progress at 9:00PM I was at a 7 and they decided to break my water then. That certainly moved things along because by 11:00 I was completely dialated and ready to push. And after a little over an hour our beautiful boy was here!!! What an amazing experience! He is such a little miracle, and we jsut couldn't be happier!On December 29, 2009 at 12:24 AM Owen Cory Evans came into the world and joined our family! He weighed in at 7 lbs. 13 oz. and was 21 inches long. Absolutely perfect healthy, handsome baby boy!

Owen is now 7 weeks old and already looks so different. At his one month appointment, that was a week ago, he weighed 10.6 lbs and was 22 3/4 inches long! He has been such a joy in our lives and we have been enjoying every minute with him. He has been smiling and talking now for a good two weeks which is pretty much the sweetest thing in the world to see! Cory and I just can't get enough of our sweetheart! We love you Owie!

38 Weeks

Here is a lovely shot of me at 38 weeks...ready to POP! This weekend started off with a great little date night of Cory and I ordering some pizza and getting this place all ready for our baby to come! I definitely was feeling a little anxious this past week thinking of all the things we needed to get done, but after friday night I was feeling much better and ready for our boy to arrive now!

Then on Saturday Cory had a great home game where they beat EMU!! The SVU barn was packed for the game which made it very hot for me, but it was still a very fun and exciting game! Then that night was our Ward Christmas Party. Food, entertainment, and friends always make it a good night! I asked Cory before we went to the party to remind me to have someone take a picture of us so we don't have to take a head shot of ourselves. Well as you can tell we both forgot. :) Oh well! I think everyone needs to bust out in singing "The Twelve Days of Christmas" because thats how far away it is and my due date!!! woohoo!

Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

The title of this post applies to many reasons why this time of the year is the most wonderful...

First off, at the beginning of November is when basketball games kicked off for not only Cory's last year at SVU but also for the NBA and for College, which makes Cory a very happy man! I have come to understand that during this time of year, all the way from November to the NBA playoffs, my sweet husband gets full access to the TV whenever he wants. (well unless I am very persuasive towards something I would like to watch, then I may get my way!) But I know how much he loves the game and can't stay away from it. These are just a couple pictures of Cory playing ball this season so far. I just love to watch him play!! Even though basketball takes up alot of his time away from home, I will definitly miss watching him play something he loves so much after this year.

Second...is the holidays! I love this season of giving and sharing! This year for Thanksgiving we had to stick around here do to basketball, but Cory's parents were able to ome out for a whole week and visit! We had such a great time with them celebrating Thanksgiving and going to lots of bball games. The week went by way to fast, but we love anytime we can get to spend with family! Thank you for coming out to visit and for all you do for us Mom and Dad Evans! Also, throughout the week of Thanksgiving I was thinking alot about how over the past 2 years I have been blessed so much! First I got engaged over Thanksgiving break 2 years ago, then last year I was married for the first Thanksgiving of my life and now this year I am very blessed to be pregnant! I am so grateful that Heavenly Father has given Cory and I the greatest blessing of becoming parents to our sweet little boy! Which leads me to what is THE most wonderful thing for us this year...

Thirdly, Christmas=Baby!!! I am less than 4 weeks away from my due date!!! I am so excited to finally meet our little one and to hold him in my arms! I feel like I am getting really close to feeling like I am fully prepared, in my mind, for our boy to arrive! This Christmas is going to be the best one yet in our home as we get to welcome in a new member to our family! Life just couldn't get any better!

Pumpkin Carving and Halloween Fun

We decided to pick out one pumpkin to share between the two of us this year and for the first time since I can remember, I didn't use one of those store bought pumpkin booklets. I ususally always do one of those really difficult and cool looking pictures, but with our lack of time this year we decided on doing our best version of a scary pumpkin face. I thought it turned out pretty good and we had fun doing it together! I made Cory do the cleaning out of the pumpkin which I usually don't mind doing at all, but for some reason it kinda grossed me out this year. :) I did all the poking and Cory did the fabulous carving job! Then on Friday our ward had a Halloween dinner and Trunk-R-Treat activity that was so fun to see all the cute kids dressed up in their costumes. I was getting really anxious for our little guy to get here so I could have dressed him up! Seriously everyday now I look down at my belly and wish he was here so I could hold him and give him hugs and kisses! Everyone keeps saying that its not too far away now, but to me it still seems like forever! I just can't wait to meet my little boy! Well, finally on Halloween night we got together with some friends and played games and ate yummy snacks! We had a great time celebrating this spooky holiday and are excited for next year when we get to go trick-or-treating with our own kid!!

Fall Break!

So on Monday and Tuesday this week SVU had no school for Fall Break and we were able to make a fun short trip over to the DC Temple with our FHE group. We drove up on Monday morning so we could have time to do something fun that night. After the guys tried to convince us that a hockey game would be the best activity for the night, we decided on Olive Garden for dinner and games at the hotel after! Sorry guys, maybe some other time. :) Then on Tuesday we went to the temple and that was wonderful! It was just so nice to get out of Buena Vista for 2 days and have a great time with friends. Oh and being able to eat at places other than the fabulous selection we have in BV was nice too!

28 Weeks...and GROWING!

I am posting again and its only been like 5 days, shocker! hehe However, I realized I have not taken a belly picture for awhile now and decided that today I was going to. So the past couple of days I have been finding myself making several comments about how big my belly is getting to Cory, and he politely responds to my repetitiveness with a cute smile and a nod saying "yes you are getting bigger." I don't know why but all of a sudden all I notice is my growing tummy. I notice it when I stand, when I sit, and especially when I am trying to sleep! So here are a few pictures I snapped of my baby bump large and round, poking out for the world to see! I am in love with it nonetheless because of the wonderful miracle inside whom we are patiently awaiting his arrival!

Birthday wishes and a trip to Chicago!

Me on my 23rd birthday! Don't you just love the amazing wrapping job my wonderful husband did? Complete with balloons on every gift! hehe I sure do love him! Cory was very sneaky this year with my presents because he knows how big of a peeker i am, so I didn't know anything about what he got me. He did a great job on making the day special for me! The best present I got this year though was finding out that we are having a BOY!!! The day before my birthday I had a very long awaited ultrasound scheduled to finally know pink or blue, and now we know we are definitely going BLUE! We are both so excited and this will be the first grandson on my side of the family! I can't wait to meet our little man and I already have so much love for him! Also, I got another big present this year that was a trip home to see my little brother before he leaves for his mission! So, bright and early the next morning after my b-day I flew out to Chicago and had such a great time with my parents and brother! For the ten days I was there we went to a Cubs game, Red Robin for birthday burgers, celebrated my brother's 20th b-day, spent time with family, and of course of baby shopping!!! I had such a fun time with my mom going to tons of garage sales where we were able to find some great deals! The greatest part of the whole trip though was when I got to go to the temple with my brother for his first time! What a wonderful experience it is to be with the ones you love most in the most perfect place on earth. Thank you Cory, Mom, and Dad for allowing me to do this trip!

19 Weeks and Something to Show for it!

Finally over the past two weeks now I have noticed my belly getting bigger. So here is the first belly picture I have taken being pregnant! I have also been able to feel the little tooter moving around which makes me so happy! I won't be able to have my ultrasound to find out the gender of the baby until Sept. 1st. Boo. Cory and I are very anxious to find out, so just one month more of waiting!

Well The word has been out for a little while now, but for those who haven't heard the BIG news yet...I am PREGNANT! Last week I was able to have an ultrasound done and this is a snap shot of our cute little baby that we are so excited to meet in December! I just love looking at the picture and seeing that tiny hand sticking up! I am 11 weeks along right now (almost 12!) and am feeling so much better than I was the last couple of weeks! Pregnancy is a whole new experience that both Cory and I are trying to figure out! My sweet husband has been so incredibly amazing these past couple weeks and I am so grateful that he is my baby's Daddy! hehe Cory and I have been so excited since day one when we found out we were expecting and our excitement continues to grow each day! The due date as of this most recent ultrasound is December 28, 2009...but we'll see if that changes as I get further along. There isn't any belly bump developing yet, but I know once it comes it will only get much bigger! Which I am fine with because I love my babies WELL rounded! hehe

What A Wonderful First Year

Its been one whole year since Cory and I tied the knot and I have to say my love for him has grown so much! There was so much that happened throughout our first 12 months together and I am grateful for every experience we have had! Our Anniversary is on May 3rd which was a Sunday this year...so we went out the day before to do some celebrating! Cory planned the night for us which included a fun dinner by the beach followed by a walk on the beautiful white sanded beach! Then after that we got some ice cream at a cute little spot. While we were there another couple were there getting some ice cream who we asked to take a picture for us and Cory told them it was our 1st year anniversary. They were very happy for us and said they were going on number 35! They also wished us many more to come! I look forward to the day when Cory and I celebrate 35 years of love and happiness together! Then to finish off the night Cory wanted to get us a fun gift so we picked up a WII on the way home! I cannot wait to get all the mario games to play on it cause thats really all I like hehe! Here are some pictures from the night...oh and on sunday our real anniversary we did the whole tasting of the top of our wedding cake! which was gross and very dry! But atleast we can say we did it!

Another School Year Comes To An End...

I realize that I haven't posted in over a month, but I honestly have not been able to due to school ending, moving for the summer, and not having a working computer! But at last we purchased a new laptop that we have been dreaming about for awhile! So hopefully now I won't have any excusses not to post. Well let me fill you in on some recent happenings in the Evans's Life.

For the past little while Cory has just been finishing up with his junior year at SVU and doing some preseason work/recruiting for the summer. I on the other hand was not doing much but hangout with girfriends and their beautiful babies, and getting everything ready to move down to the Dirty South for the summer...Mobile, AL Baby!

The last week before moving is always caotic but I had lots of time on my hands and two wonderful friends who afford their services. But even with all the craziness of packing we were able to squeeze in one last FHE with our cherished group of friends! Next year we are going to miss the Holt's and the Hansen's very much because lucky JJ and Pete got to graduate this year...congrats guys! It was nice to be all together, minus Holly and Jacob :(, one last time and have a fun little BBQ. Here are a few pictures from the evening! Cory and I have truely enjoyed such wonderful company and lessons each week for FHE...not to mention the always delicious treats! hehe

This past weekend Cory and I were able to make a quick trip over to Ohio for my cousin Rebecca's wedding. It was really nice to see extended family that we don't get to see that often, as well as my parents and little bro. Cory and I always have a blast at weddings because we love to get our grove on! Thats why at our own wedding the whole night was pretty much a big dance party and we never left the dance floor! haha! Some of you might not know that Cory and his younger brother Wesley play together on the Basketball team here at SVU. It has been alot of fun watching both of them play! They are really enjoying being able to finally be on the same team together which, because of there age difference, they were never able to do before until now! And speaking for their parents it has been an absolute joy for them to see their boys play together in college. We are so grateful for Cory's wonderful parents who are able to and make the affort to come out here to BV and watch their boys play! Last week they were here for another visit and got to see three of their games, which they all won! The last leg of our long Christmas Break trip was back home to Chicago to visit Cory's Family and some of mine as well! I wish I had some pictures of when we did this really fun mystery dinner game night, but i don't. It was a blast though, thank-you again Matt and Val for getting it! So, we all dressed up into different charaters that were invited to a dinner party where someone got murdered! It is just like the movie/game Clue! It was really nice to be back home with family being able to relax and spend time together. Cory got to play alot of basketball and video games, of course! We were able to celebrate New Years Eve there too! Growing up Cory's family has a tradition to throw tons of confetti all over when the clock hits midnight, so I decided we need to do it again! Cory and I are so blessed to have such wonderful families and had such a great time with all of them this past Christmas Season! We love you all and miss you even more!

Next...Utah!

The day after Cory's Birthday I was on my way to Utah for my sister Jenna's Wedding!!! I wanted to get there a little early to help out with things before the big day, but little did I know that my trip was going to take much longer than planned to get there. Never again will I choose to stop in Chicago for a lay-over during the winter time! Thank-goodness my dad was there and could come and get me for the night. However, we only got 3 hours of sleep before having to get up and go back to the airport. To make a long story short there was more complications that made me look probably somewhat like a lunatic running through the O'Hare Airport with two bags of luggage and crying hysterically! But I had been traveling for over 112 hours straight by then with only 3 hours of sleep! But I did make it to Utah and hit the ground running with all that needed to be done before Saturday! The day I got there I had to make 140 truffles with my mom and sister's for the wedding favors and then help Jenna pack and move all her things to her new place. On Friday we got to have a little girl fun by going and getting pampered for the big event, followed by a bridal shower! It turned out really great with lots of food, friends, games, and gifts! Then the day had finally come and it was such an incredible Temple Marriage and Reception! I am so happy for Jenna and Bennett!!! Love you two so much!

After the craziness of the wedding had passed, it was time to just relax and hangout with the fam! Because we where all there for the wedding and it was so close to Christmas we were able to have mostly all of us there the spend it together! It gets really hard somedays being so far away from both mine and Cory's families that I cherish the time we have together! But I don't recommend spending Christmas in a hotel if you don't have to...its jsut not the same as being at home. But always the important part was being able to be with family!

First...On December 15th we celebrated Cory's 23rd Birthday! It was a lot of fun and Cory was looking forward to this day forever because for an entire year he can now be the number 23--- Michael Jordan's #!!! I cannot even tell you how many times I heard him repeat "This is going to be the best year ever cuase I am MJ's #!" Oh, how I love my crazy husband! And I just want to say how happy, grateful, and blessed I am to have him in my life! Happy belated Birthday Sweetheart...I love you!

Side Note - Don't stand so close to Cory when he is blowing out candles...you may get a face full of hot wax! (not saying that I did or anything)

This year for Halloween was not a very exciting one...I had to work a double that day so me and Cory didn't get to do anything together. But I was excited that my boss said that we could dress up for Halloween! So the night before we headed over to Walmart to see if we could find something that I could wear. Sadly, there was only this way cool t-shirt and amazingly huge eyelashes! I really like Halloween and think its really fun to play dress-up for the day, even if this is all I could find to wear! We live in an apartment complex that doesn't get any trick-or-treaters so Cory spent the night at a fireside were Lavell Edwards spoke! He thought it was pretty cool being a big BYU fan and all! Well, hopefully next year we will be able to do something together and a little bit more Halloweenish!

I know I haven't posted in awhile and I think its about time! I love the fall season, and for the first time I am spending it in Virginia, which in my opinion has the most beautiful fall weather! The leaves are changing with a cool breeze in the air, everyone's getting costumes and lots of treats to share! :) Just a little rhyme for you all! Well to catch everyone up on our lives recently, I will start with with the volleyball intramurals. Cory, Wesley (cory's younger brother), JJ and Christanie (our neighbors/friends) put a team together that completely dominated! I was on baby duty with JJ and Christanie's adorable baby boy, Brady, which I totally volunteered for knowing that if I played I would only be hurting the team. :) It was alot of fun and they came out as champs in the end with winning shirts and all!

Next Cory and I where able to take a fun trip to the WA DC temple! At SVU they have a tradition were they take one day out of the semester for anyone who is interested in going to the temple for the day; free bus ride and lunch included! I am so glad we were able to do that it is such a beautiful temple!

Lastly, yesterday for FHE we got together with JJ and Christanie for some pumpkin carving!! We had a really great time and I made some yummy fruit pizza for dessert (even though thats not really a fall treat). Can you quess which one is Cory's?? Of course he did the MJ #23 one, I did the spider, Christanie did the cat, and JJ did the face. We are so blessed to live next to such great friends and we always love the time we spend together! The last picture is of Cory holding Brady from last night...he is so cute and we love playing with that little guy any chance we get!

For the summer Cory and I were in Corpus Christi, TX where we both worked for Pinnacle Security...Cory as a salesman and me as the office girl! We were having a bit of trouble with our camera so we weren't able to take very many pictures, soory! However, with the crazy working hours and 6 days a week selling schedule, it didn't leave much time for us to go and do very much sight-seeing. It was definitly a learning experience summer for both of us, and we had some great times getting to know wach others as newlyweds! The pictures I posted are when we went to the Corpus Christi Aquarium, I just really liked this picture of the turtle so I had to put it on here and then one of Cory walking out the door to sell...this is what summer sales does to you!

ROAD TRIP

Right after our wedding on May 3, 2008 we packed up our car and made our way down to Texas. But we made a few stops along the way...First we went to Nauvoo, IL for a quick little visit! We love Nauvoo and the beautiful temple there. Next stop was Branson Missouri, and what a time that was!!! The very first thing we did as we pulled into town was go to a dinner and show performance called the Dixie Stampede! It featured singing, dancing, horse tricks and races, lots of southern food, and best of all the one and only Dolly Parton! It was so hilarious I almost cried, but we had a great time. After that we went to some other shows and shops in town, justing enjoing the time we had before the busy summer we had a head of us. Before we knew it we were in Texas to start our first summer with Pinnacle Security!
